The Special Court of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday rejected the bail petitions of former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy and his brother-in-law, B.V. Srinivas Reddy, who are in judicial custody in the case pertaining to the illegal mining of iron ore by the Obulapuram Mining Company (CBI).
First plea
Special Judge B. Nagamaruti Sarma, passed orders rejecting the bail plea, the first after the CBI filed its charge-sheet against Janardhan Reddy, and the fourth filed by the duo since their arrest on September 5, 2011.
The judge took into consideration the appeal filed in the Supreme Court and its request for a copy of the charge-sheet.
Hearing in the case relating to IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi's bail plea has been listed for February 26 in the Supreme Court Registry. Srilakshmi and former Mines Director V.D. Rajagopal approached the Supreme Court after the High Court quashed their bail petitions.
Earlier in the morning, the CBI Court posted to February 9, arguments on the counter filed by the CBI on the bail petition of V. Vijay Sai Reddy, the auditor of Jagati Publications of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and the key accused in the MP's assets case and extended his judicial remand to February 14.
Lunch motion
Meanwhile, the CBI moved a lunch motion in the High Court here on Tuesday, challenging the decision of the lower court in not extending police custody of Sunil Reddy, an aide of Mr. Jagan charged with involvement in the Emaar Properties deals.
The matter was posted for hearing on Wednesday.
