Coordination
Caste equations and loyalty are likely to play key role in selection of the TDP leaders for various nominated posts including that of marketing committee chairpersons, trust board members of various temples including Arasavilli and Sri Kurmam in the district.
Coordination Committee comprising Labour Minister K.Atchannaidu, Srikakulam MP K.Rammohan Naidu, TDP District president Chowdary Babji and others are scheduled to meet on Sunday to prepare the short list which will be submitted to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for finalising the names for various posts.
According to sources, several leaders of Kalinga and Kapu communities sought lion’s share in nominated posts as the party had preferred Velama candidates to others during local body and general elections. A prominent TDP leader of Gara mandal, Peena Venkataramana Murthy, reportedly urged the party high command for Srikakulam Agriculture Marketing Committee chair person’s post, citing his services and Kalinga community which was said to be ignored in Srikakulam Assembly constituency.
P. Vithal of Kapu community is insisting for Srikakulam Grandhalaya Samstha chairman’s post. The party’s senior leader D.V.S. Prakash is keen on elevation as he has been serving the party for the last 30 years. As many as 40 persons applied for trust board members’ posts for Arasavilli and Sri Kurmam temples.
Opponents of Kinjarapu family feared that they would not get recognition as Mr. Atchannaidu and Mr. Rammohan would give importance for loyalty too. “Many of us have become victims when the TDP was in opposition. It is now the party’s turn to recognise our services. Then only, the party will have strong network at grassroots level,” said a senior leader.
