Cases booked against APNGOs society members

The city police booked a criminal case against managing committee members of APNGOs (Gachibowli) Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society Limited, including its president V. Gopal Reddy for alleged irregularities in allotment of plots and misappropriation.

Based on a complaint lodged by Joint Registrar G. Srinivasa Rao, cases were register under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, banker, merchant or agent), 420 (cheating) and 182 (false information, with intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person) of IPC read with 120B (conspiracy) against 19 managing committee members.

The members include president Gopal Reddy, vice-president S. Giridhar, secretary N. Chandrasekhar Reddy, treasurer P. Jagan Mohan Reddy and directors Ch. Nagabhushanam, B. Ramasubha Reddy, K. Krishna Prakash, A.B.V.B. Bapuji, P. Shiva Kumar, P. Ranga, P.V.V. Satyanarayana, B. Panduranga Rao, S. Panduranga Rao, T. Anil Kumar, K. Jagadeeswara Rao, K.K.V. Bhaskar Rao, Maramreddy Venkateswar Reddy, B. Mallikarjuna and K.V. Laxmana Rao.

In his complaint, Mr. Rao said the APNGOs (Gachibowli) Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society was registered in 2003 for allotting house sites to the NGOs. Two years later, Amanaganti Sriramulu’s APNGOs (Gopanpally) Mutually Aided Cooperative House Building and Construction Society Limited was registered. Subsequently, the latter merged with APNGOs (Gachibowli) Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society as per the Section 11 of AP MACS Act.

Detailed inquiries conducted after receiving representation about financial fraud and other irregularities in Gachibowli society revealed that members resorted to irregularities in the functioning of the society which include huge financial misappropriation, violation of society by-laws, provisions of AP MACS Act and other government orders.

The fraud led to the loss of Rs.12.83 crore. Plots were allotted through draw of lots and the names of office-bearers were not included in them. Irregularities and financial misappropriation pointed out in the statutory inquiry report and vigilance report clearly indicate criminal breach of trust on the part of committee, the FIR said.
