Police have registered a case against popular South Indian actress and MP Vijayashanti of Telangana Rashtra Samithi for allegedly making inflammatory remarks.

Banaraja Hills police have registered a case against her for allegedly making inflammatory remarks while addressing a party workers election meeting at the TRS office here on Wednesday.

The meeting was organised in connection with the July 27 by-polls to 12 Assembly segments in the Telangana region. She had reportedly asked the Telangana supporters to “chop down the foes of Telangana”.

A case has been registered under IPC sections 153-A and (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth and residence) and 505(2) (Statements creating or promoting enmity, ill-will or hatred between classes), police said.

Police went to the residence of Vijayashanti at MLA Colony this morning. But she was not present in her house, Banjara Hills police told PTI.

The Chief Electoral Officer I. V. Subbharao had said yesterday that suo moto action would be taken against her under the provisions of the Representation of People Act for the alleged remarks.
