Case against RIMS doctor

A general surgeon in the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) was arrested on Wednesday on the charge of sexually harassing house surgeons.

Sexual harassment

A group of 29 house surgeons lodged a complaint with the I Town Police that the general surgeon, B. Venkatratnam, was sexually harassing them, Superintendent of Police C.M. Trivikram Varma said.

Preliminary probe

“After a preliminary inquiry, a case has been booked against the general surgeon under IPC 354 (sexual assault on women with a view to outrage their modesty),” the SP said.
