Farmers of the capital region, Amaravati, are leaving on a three-day tour of Singapore on October 30.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would flag off a special bus carrying 35 farmers from the Secretariat at Velagapudi on Monday. This is the first batch of 123 farmers selected for the tour.
The farmers would board a flight for Hyderabad at the Gannavaram airport and leave for Singapore from Hyderabad on Monday night.
They would be staying in Singapore for three nights and four days. Additional JC Chennakesavulu and Deputy Collector Yesuratnam are accompanying the farmers. Mr. Naidu has asserted that the tour would help the farmers, who were the original citizens of Amaravati, understand the best business practices. The A.P. LPS is a unique scheme under which farmers of three mandals had given away 32,000 acres to the government.
The government, in turn, has promised to give them developed plots in residential and commercial areas. The CRDA has already started registration of developed plots.
The farmers are expected to see various residential and commercial areas in Singapore.
