Calling upon medicos to take Swami Vivekananda as their role model and accord importance to serve the mankind, Medical and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas on Monday said medicos should be prepared to render services to the poor and the needy.

He was speaking at the 155th birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda at the Rangaraya Medical College (RMC) here. After garlanding the portrait of Vivekananda and offering floral tributes, Dr. Srinivas said efforts were on to improve facilities to impart medical education in the State, besides developing infrastructure and facilities in the government hospitals and medical colleges.

“As many as eight new medical colleges have been commenced functioning in the State and the number of seats in medicine increased by 850. Arrangements are in place to construct buildings for the AIIMS in Vijayawada and temporary arrangements are being made to set up a temporary campus for the time being,” he said.
