Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi, the forum for preservation of backward Rayalaseema region’s rights formally assumed the shape of a political party, with its founder president Byreddy Rajasekhara Reddy announcing its launch to fight for the cause of Rayalaseema.

After offering prayers at Tirumala, Mr. Reddy garlanded the statue of Vijayanagara emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya and trekked to Indira grounds, where he addressed a public meeting on Thursday.

Unveiling the party’s logo and flag carrying the image of the famed ‘Thimmamma Marrimanu’, a 200-year-old mammoth banyan tree in Anantapur district, he said the party would fight for achieving Rayalaseema State.

He said the ongoing Samaikyandhra agitation would have no serious consequence, as the decision had already been taken.
