Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission Chairman Mandali Buddha Prasad, who resigned from his post, has offered to quit the Congress party too to lead the Samaikyandhra struggle in Krishna District.

At a press conference here on Monday, he asked the Congress Central Working Committee (CWC) to “reconsider” its decision to divide the State.

He, along with former Minister Devineni Rajasekhar (Nehru) asked the Telugu Desam Party, to clearly state its stand on joining the “people's movement” to prevent the division of the State. These leaders asked the CWC to withdraw its decision taking into consideration the huge public outcry against the proposed division in Seemandhra region.

Members of Samaikyandhra Student JAC organised sporting events at the Benz Circle and cooked breakfast as part of the protest to oppose the division of the State. They were joined by Vijayawada Municipal Corporation employees and APNGOs at other places to express displeasure over the proposed division of the State.

While several shops were closed, some educational institutions reopened on Monday.
