Minister for Information Technology and Panchayat Raj Nara Lokesh on Monday announced that BT roads would be laid to all villages by 2019.

Addressing a public meeting at Palasa, 70 km from here, the Minister said all the villages would get LED street lighting facility by October 2, 2018 and household water connections within one year in all the three districts of the north Andhra region.

Mr. Lokesh reiterated that the government would create three lakh jobs in a couple of years with the development of the IT and other industries.

“In spite of hurdles, the State government is able to attract IT industries for establishment of their branches in places like Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. Outsourcing jobs can be created in places like Srikakulam too. We are going to conduct a crucial meeting very soon in Visakhapatnam to woo IT firms which already created 6,000 jobs within no time.”

Mr. Lokesh urged the people to reciprocate by extending their support to the TDP in the next panchayat, mandal parishad and general elections. He said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was striving to develop the State by working more than 18 hours a day.

He promised to get more funds allocated for the proposed offshore project over the Mahendra Tanaya River to benefit Palasa and surrounding areas.

Earlier, Mr. Lokesh inaugurated an RO water plant on the outskirts of Srikakulam to provide safe drinking water to the patients suffering from kidney diseases.

He was given rousing reception during his maiden tour of Srikakulam district.

Srikakulam in-charge Minister Pitani Satyanarayana, Minister for BC Welfare and Transport K. Atchannaidu, Minister for Energy Kala Venkata Rao and others received him.

Ministers, who spoke at the meeting, criticised YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleging that his party had totally failed in playing the constructive role of the Opposition.

The Ministers sought the public support in winning all the Assembly constituencies in the district in the next general elections.

Earlier, a huge rally was taken out in Palasa town.
