A four-year-old boy was reportedly poisoned to death allegedly by a health worker owing to old rivalry with his parents at an Anganwadi centre within Chimakurthy police limits.

Ongole Rural Circle Inspector M. Muralikrishna said on Monday that Dhananjay was rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in a serious condition, where he died late on Sunday. Police, who initially registered an unnatural death case under Cr.Pc. Section 174, converted it into a case of murder after a probe.

“We are on the lookout for the Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) worker, Jyothi, who alleged mixed rodenticide with eatables and allegedly gave it to the boy when the Anganwadi centre helper was away to collect water,” Mr. Muralikrishna added.
