Boy dies after consuming toy in snack packet

A four-year-old boy died after swallowing a small emoji toy which was inside a snack packet.

According to DSP Venkateswara Rao, the incident took place in Kummari Revu Colony also known as Ranipeta in the town on Wednesday. Lakshmana Rao, father of the boy Nirikshan (4) took the latter along with him to nearby kirana shop and bought him a snack packet “Diamond Rings” in which a emoji toy was there.

Lakshmana Rao opened the packet and gave it to his son to have the rings. Within minutes the boy choked, fell down from the hands of Lakshmana Rao and started having a seizure. He was rushed to government general hospital where he was declared "brought dead" by doctors.

Later the doctors found a small toy in his neck which caused breathlessness and suffocation to the boy. The DSP said that the postmortem report was awaited and that a case would be booked against the shop dealer and also company. Police would take the help of food inspectors in their investigation.
