Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has approved the constitution of the Group of Ministers to recommend guidelines to give legal status to the ‘Bangaru Thalli’, the child protection scheme.
However, two senior Ministers, PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana and Panchayat Raj Minister K. Jana Reddy, who were most vocal in their criticism of the unilateral announcement of the scheme by the Chief Minister and the mode of disbursement of funds under the scheme, did not find place in the GoM.
These Ministers had raised the issue in the recent cabinet meeting and said that the scheme should have been announced after discussing it threadbare with cabinet colleagues.
Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy responded by offering to constitute a GoM to finalise guidelines for the proposed ‘AP Bangaru Thalli Girl Child Promotion & Empowerment Act, 2013’ Bill to be introduced in the ongoing budget session.
He thus put an end to what could have become a controversy.
The GoM includes V. Sunitha Laxma Reddy, J. Geetha Reddy, D. K. Aruna, G. Aruna Kumari, Anam Ramararayana Reddy, P. Satyanarayana, P. Balaraju, E. Pratap Reddy and Kondru Murali. Another GoM was constituted to lay down the modalities for implementation of self-employment schemes for SC, ST, BC, minorities, women and physically-challenged.
It includes P. Satyanarayna, P. Bala Raju, B. Sariaah, Mohammad Ahmadullah, M. Maheedhar Reddy, V. Sunitha Laxma Reddy, A. Ramanarayana Reddy, J. Geetha Reddy, N. Raghuveera Reddy, Danam Nagender, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad, P. Viswaroop and G. Prasad Kumar.
