Government Railway Police (GRP) in Vijayawada on Thursday received a prank call saying that a bomb was planted on Puducherry-Kolkata (Howrah Express) train. After thorough check-up, the GRP confirmed that the call was a hoax.

According to Vijayawada Divisional Superintendent of Railway Police (SRP) Ch. Syam Prasad, the control room received an anonymous call at 2.58 a.m on Thursday. The caller threatened that the bomb placed in a reserved bogie of the train would go off any time.

Bomb disposal and sniffer dog teams were pressed into action and after a thorough checking, let off the train from Vijayawada station.
