A bomb hoax caused panic among passengers and staff at the railway station here on Wednesday, and they heaved a sigh of relief only after the transistor which was abandoned on a seat in Kachiguda-Nizamabad passenger train by an unknown passenger was removed by the bomb disposal squad and declared that it was “immaculate”.

The cleaning staff on seeing the suspicious object, informed the Government Railway Police who in turn called up the district police for technical assistance.

The quick reaction team along with bomb disposal squad arrived on the scene and found nothing harmful inside the transistor. They also searched every part of the station.

Later, the Circle Inspector of Police, S. Saidulu who led the operation, told reporters that the transistor may have been left behind by a passenger either mischievously or unwittingly and efforts would be made to trace him out.
