The BJP will soon demand a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation project, party Floor leader in the Assembly and Visakhapatnam North MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju has said.

Those found involved in the irregularities would be brought to book, Mr. Raju said while addressing the media here on Wednesday.

There was no truth in the allegation that the Centre had not granted any funds to the Polavaram project. The entire cost of the project was being borne by the Centre, he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had never promised Special Category Status to the State. He had never taken a U-turn on the issue either. All that he said was granting a special package to the State and was committed to his word. Besides this, he was also in favour of a new capital city to the State, Mr. Raju said.

‘TDP defeat imminent’

While the popularity graph of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was registering a decline, the one of YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was increasing, he observed.

The TDP–BJP combine, with the support of Jana Sena Party, could win the 2014 elections with a margin of five lakh votes. Under the changed scenario, the TDP’s defeat was imminent with the three parties deciding to go on their own, he said.

On the TDP’s ‘Dharma Porata Deeksha’, Mr. Raju said the Chief minister was rather engaged in “adharma poratam” to meet his selfish ends.
