The TDP is indulging in politics of deception and deceit with a view to destabilising the NDA government at the Centre, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav has said.
He was addressing a public meeting here on Saturday after senior leader Kanna Lakshminarayana was sworn in as State party president.
In a scathing attack on the Chandrababu Naidu government, Mr. Ram Madhav said it was not the first time Mr. Naidu extended support to the opposition parties to weaken the Centre.
“In 1996, Mr. Naidu had extended support to the United Front (UF) government led by H.D. Deva Gowda despite the latter having just 37 MPs. Now, he has extended his support to a coalition government in Karnataka though Mr. Deva Gowda’s party has just 38 MLAs. But when it came to allying with the BJP led by A.B. Vajpayee in 1998, Mr. Naidu had extended outside support,” he observed.
“This shows that Mr. Naidu has been playing opportunistic politics throughout his career,” Mr. Ram Madhav added. Further, the TDP had showed “suicidal tendencies” by jumping off the “Rajdhani Express” (which is how the BJP compares the NDA government’s pace of development). The TDP is now nursing its wounds,” Mr. Ram Madhav said while explaining the reasons that led to the TDP pulling out of the NDA government.
‘Will emerge
stronger in A.P.’
Mr. Ram Madhav said the BJP had begun its southward march and would eventually storm to power in all the southern States, including Andhra Pradesh. “The BJP stands for new politics. In Andhra Pradesh, we are going to emerge stronger and will form a BJP-led government that promises a new style of governance marked by accountability and zero tolerance towards corruption,” Mr. Ram Madhav asserted.
Mr. Lakshminarayana said he had always worked for the party, irrespective of the position.
