The mood in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) camp is upbeat after the recent public meetings addressed by Viswa Hindu Parishad president Praveen Togadia and Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu in Kadapa. The good turnout at the public meetings have enthused the BJP cadre, which is undertaking the party’s membership drive more vigorously, BJP’s Kadapa Assembly constituency unit convenor C.P. Basi Reddy says. People, including Muslims were joining the BJP in Kadapa, he added. The membership process is going on smoothly without hassles as there is no membership fee. One can enrol him/herself as the member by merely giving a missed call to a toll-free number and get an acknowledgement. With a reply to the message with personal details would ensure his/her registration as a member.

TUDA gets an administrator, literally

Tirupati Municipal Commissioner Vinay Chand took additional charge as the Vice-chairman of the Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA). The development assumed significance as Mr. Vinay Chand was not new to Chittoor district as he had earlier worked here as the Joint Collector. The vacancy with the sudden demise of Tirupati MLA M. Venkataramana, who held the post of the TUDA Chairman, is expected to be filled up soon for taking up the responsibility of administration on the political side. After a long time, an IAS officer is manning a top post in the TUDA. Similarly, Mr. Purnachandra Rao, a senior official of the Endowments Department, took charge as the Executive Officer of Sri Varasiddi Vinayaka Swami Devasthanam at Kanipakkam.
