Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed MPs, MLAs and MLCs as part of a video-conference with the BJP leaders of 10 States on Sunday.

He called for effective implementation of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, which is aimed at developing 20,000 villages where Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes together constitute more than 50% of the population, the Jan Dhan Yojana, MUDRA Yojana and other flagship programmes of the Central government.

MPs K. Haribabu (Visakhapatnam) and Gokaraju Gangaraju (Narsapuram), MLAs P. Vishnu Kumar Raju (Visakhapatnam north) and Kamineni Srinivas (Kaikalur) and MLC P.V.N. Madhav participated in the conference at the State party office in Vijayawada.

Speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Haribabu said they did not get the opportunity to speak about specific issues related to the State due to time constraint.

The available time was enough for party leaders of only three to four States to raise matters relevant to them.

According to party sources, more such interactions at the Parliamentary constituency-level were planned to be organised soon to take the Central government’s messages to the grassroots-level.
