BJP leader and MP M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that the BJP is willing to compete with any party on the development plank. He also called upon people to shun hate politics.
Addressing a meeting of city elite here on Sunday, he accused the Congress and their supporters of spreading communal hatred for political gains. The BJP will adopt the Gujarat model throughout the country where no incident of communal clash or curfew in the last decade has been reported and growth has been high. Gujarat is the only State in the country which supplies round the clock power, he said.
Mr. Naidu said pseudo-secularist parties were trying to project the BJP as a communal party while the Congress was given a free hand to pit one community against the other.
He said Gujarat registered an agriculture growth of 10 to 12 per cent and Madhya Pradesh 18.92 per cent while the national average was 2.3 per cent and that of AP 1.96 per cent. While other States are struggling to issue health cards to people, Gujarat brought out soil health cards based on the recommendations of M.S. Swaminathan. The BJP admitted to its lapses in Karnataka where the government failed to perform and ultimately was punished by people.
Mr. Naidu said they were all supporting Narendra Modi, who was junior to most of them in the party, because of his success in governance, administrative acumen and strong will to deliver. He said only persons like Mr. Modi could provide the right atmosphere for highly talented and tech-savvy youth. The technocrats are doing wonders abroad due to encouragement and recognition, which is lacking at home, he added.
He said the Congress had failed miserably in providing good governance. The party did reasonably well in the initial years due to the strong foundations put in place by the former government headed by Vajpayee. After reaping the fruits of the BJP government, the Congress exhibited its hollowness and misrule.
The Congress resorts to passing of bills to resolve major burning issues of the country in the absence of political will and skill.
He said the Telangana issue had manifested due to the selfish stand of the Congress. The party leaders took a diverse stand in both regions. Instead of waging a struggle in the State, the Congress leaders should prevail upon their leader, Sonia Gandhi, to create a separate Telangana, he said.
As far as the BJP is concerned, the party took an uncompromising decision of giving two States and all other objections were secondary. All leaders either from Telangana or Andhra should speak in one voice.
