Moved by the teachings of three great spiritual gurus, Bharatnatyam danseuse Samudrala Madhavi has taken upon herself the noble task of propagating their teachings through Bharatnatyam ballet.

Blessed by Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar swami, Ms. Madhavi has now set her eyes on creating a record of sorts by giving 108 stage performance of the dance ballet ‘Acharya Trayam’ in different parts of the country as also abroad by the end of next year. The ballet lucidly highlights the essence of the life and teachings of Sri Bhagavad Ramanujacharya, Sri Manavala Mahamuni and Sri Tridandi Pedda Jeeyar Swami.

In a conversation with The Hindu after giving her 54th stage performance of the ballet at the open air auditorium in the Santhapeta Saibaba temple here, Ms. Madhavi, the disciple of Dr. Uma Rama Rao, retired principal of Telugu University, said, “I want to do my Ph.D on Bhagavad Ramanujacharya, expounder of Vishishtadvaita”.

Ms. Madhavi and students of her Hyderabad-based Vibhavari Natya Akademi Ahwini, Pujitha, Naga Sravani, T.Anusha, Sameeksha, Srinija, Chandra and Varuni gave a captivating performance, winning appreciation from connoisseur of arts as well as laymen. Recalling the troupe’s ballet performance at Orlando, Florida, in the USA in May, Ms. Madhavi says she was waiting for the great day of performing at Srirangam on January 27.

The man behind this woman’s success is her husband Ramanuja Chary, a writer, director and anchor of the ballet. The former English lecturer in Vidyarthi Junior and Degree college at Adilabad, she is credited with another Baratnatyam ballet on Sri Mahalakshmi and Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar titled ‘Sri Sambhava Parampara’.
