Amaravati Capital Development Advisory Committee member Beeda Masthan Rao’s name has come up for consideration by the TDP leadership for the post of the coveted Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams’ Trust Board Chairman.

A former MLA and successful industrialist, Mr. Masthan Rao has emerged as a popular backward classes’ leader in Nellore region. He has represented the Kavali Assembly segment from 2009 to 2014.

The term of the present Trust Board led by Chairman Chadalavada Krishnamurthy has ended.

Sources in the Telugu Desam Party here said the party leadership was now in favour of a non-controversial and popular leader for the TTD Chairman’s post as the general elections are only two years away.

Mr. Masthan Rao’s name has come up for consideration given his family’s association and active participation in the TDP party activities for a long time now.

He has become known as a trusted follower of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu ever since he joined the party.

A joyous mood is prevailing among the TDP leaders and his followers here following reports that his is name being considered for the Chairman post.

At the same time, the TDP leaders here say nothing can be said till the last minute.

Already, the names of senior leaders like MP Maganti Murali Mohan and Retired IAS Officer K. Lakshminarayana are doing the rounds for the top post.

For the leaders of Nellore region, the TTD post has been high on the priority list considering the fact that the region is located close to Tirupati and quite a good number of devotees visit the shrine on a daily basis from here.
