Sending feelers to partymen that the State may go in for early elections, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Monday asked the party cadre to work with renewed enthusiasm and ensure that the people re-elect the party by a massive margin. Though Mr. Naidu stopped short of saying the exact time of elections, party leaders said they were gearing up for early polls any time after December 2018.

Speaking at a party programme held at the Happy Resorts in Atmakuru village, Mr. Naidu said the victories at Nandyal and Kakinada were a befitting answer to critics of the government.

“The twin victories at Nandyal and at Kakinada answered many critics and indicated the enormous trust this government enjoyed with people. But let us not be complacent over the victories. We should draw lessons from every election and revise our poll management, public management and political management strategies,” said Mr. Naidu.

Mr. Naidu said the government had little over a year in the office and exhorted the partymen to work with renewed viguor. “I mean we have time till December 2018 to deliver on our promises. Any way, we will have little to do after December 2018 as we will be concentrating on the forthcoming elections. Let’s aim at winning all the Assembly seats.”

The Chief Minister also called upon the party cadre to take part in the “Jalasiriki Harithi,” programme to be held in every constituency from September 6 and added that the party should take up the government’s intention to complete 28 irrigation projects in three months. The Chief Minister also exuded confidence that the government would achieve double digit growth in the coming financial year.

Several Ministers, MLAs and party leaders were present.
