Incidents of damage to offices and transport vehicles at various places marked the total bandh that was observed for the second day in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district on Saturday.

Protesting against the statements of Union Home Secretary G.K. Pillai on separate Statehood, the agitators closed the gates of the Kandaleru reservoir and stopped the water supply to Chennai in Rapur mandal today. The AP government is supplying 2,000 cusecs of water for drinking purposes from the Telugu Ganga Project to Chennai.

The protestors damaged the furniture in Tahsildar and Mandal Development Offices and the Telephone Exchange office in Manubolu mandal. The activists organised ‘rasta rokos’ and rallies and damaged some private vehicles at a few places.

Agitators led by TDP MLAs Balli Durga Prasad and Kurugondla Ramakrishna, City Congress in-charge Poluboina Anil Kumar Yadav, DCC president Yellasiri Gopala Reddy, PCC secretary Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and others organised ‘rail rokos’ at Kavali, Nellore and Gudur stations.

The Pinakini, Krishna, Navajeevan and Himasagar Express trains and Vijayawada-Gudur passenger train were stopped for about half an hour and the passengers faced severe inconvenience due to the bandh.

The APSRTC Nellore Region cancelled about 520 services in view of the bandh call on Saturday.
