The bandh called by the all-party Joint Action Committee to protest against the reported move to detach Bhadrachalam division from Khammam district and merge it with East Godavari district in Seemandhra region, paralysed normal life across the district on Tuesday.
The impact of the bandh was felt all over the district with more than 600 bus services, including several inter-State services remaining off roads. All educational institutions, including private schools and colleges were shut.
The temple town of Bhadrachalam observed a complete shutdown, as shops, hotels, petrol bunks, theatres and other business establishments remained closed on Tuesday.
The vehicular movement between Chintur and Chatti close to the inter-State border with Chhattisgarh was disrupted for several hours as the protesters staged a road blockade near Chatti.
