Balakrishna gears up for the big battle

Files nomination papers amidst much fanfare in Hindupur. When asked by the media about the absence of Jr. NTR from the election campaign, he said that the TDP never invites anybody to canvass for the party.

Film actor and son of former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao, Nandamuri Balakrishna on Wednesday made his foray into electoral politics addressing first election rally followed by filing of his nomination papers for the Hindupur assembly segment in Anantapur district.

Mr. Balakrishna, along with wife and daughters, flew to Bangalore and came to Hindupur by road to file his papers. After performing a ceremonial puja on the outskirts, he proceeded on open top vehicle for more than a kilometre, followed by thousands of supporters, to the office of the returning officer in Hindupur.

Addressing an impressive gathering, Mr. Balakrishna said that he would be accessible to the people of the constituency and concentrate on providing clean and safe drinking water to all the villages besides working towards establishment of industries in Hindupur and its surrounding .

Declaring his assets and liabilities in the affidavit he submitted as part of the 34 page nomination papers he filed , Mr Balakrishna disclosed Rs. 104.85 crore and Rs. 65 lakhs as his movable and immovable assets.

His wife Nandamuri Vasundhara and son Mokshagnya Tarakarama Teja have movable assets worth Rs. 92.32 crore and Rs. 17.54 crore respectively besides immovable assets worth Rs. 38.46 lakh and Rs. 5.38 lakh respectively.

When asked by the media about the absence of Jr. NTR from the election campaign, he said that the TDP never invites anybody to canvass for the party nor will stop anyone from taking part in the election campaign and denied any differences in the family.

Mr. Balakrishna is pitted against the YSRC candidate Naveen Nischal.
