According to police officials, Ms. Radha was involved in buying and selling of kids with the support of a few persons in several places, including the district.

She reportedly bought two kids recently and planned to sell each toddler for ₹15 lakh.

Under the directions of Srikakulam SP CM Trivikram Varma, DSP Bhimarao and other senior officials identified one family which reportedly sold their kid to Radha recently. Srikakulam Child Protection Officer KV Ramana suspected involvement of many in the racket.

“We understood that there is no adoption legally in any case. So, we informed the police who in turn took her into custody,” said Mr. Ramana.

Andhra Pradesh Commission for Protection of Child Rights member PVV Prasad interacted with Mr. Ramana and Mr. Bhimarao and asked them to conduct an in-depth investigation..
