The Marine police on Saturday conducted an awareness programme for fishermen at Kotha Kakinada on the need for implementing the ban on fishing strictly. Assistant sub-inspector M. Jagannadha Rao and constables convened a meeting with the fishermen and advised them to make use of the ban period to complete the long pending works such as boat registrations and renewals, applying for bio-metric cards and procuring life saving equipment. The fishermen were also advised to inform the police about the movements of any new persons or suspicious elements in their area and warned against venturing into the sea for fishing during the ban period.
