Unidentified persons on Saturday evening struck at an ATM of the SBI at Nakkaladinne locality in Madanapalle town, and reportedly decamped with ₹20 lakh. A gas cutter was used to open the ATM chest.

The ATM on the outskirts of the town was sparsely used by the public and the room had no light or security guard or a CC camera, when the incident took place. Officials said ₹20 lakh was taken away. “We are verifying the facts, and a special party is pressed into action to investigate,”a police official said.
