The short winter session of Andhra Pradesh Assembly that began here on Thursday will sit for five working days and conclude on December 23.
This was decided at the Business Advisory Committee which met under the chairmanship of Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy and Government Whip K. Srinivasulu attended the meeting on behalf of the government while Leader of Opposition and YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy skipped the meet. The BJP was represented by its floor leader P. Vishnu Kumar Raju.
YSRC leaders Jyothula Nehru and G. Srikanth Reddy, who attended the meeting, wanted the session to be held up to December 27, which was not accepted by the government.
It is learnt that the new capital region, drought, crop loan waiver for farmers, Hudhud cyclone and pensions were listed to be taken up during the session. On other issues which the Opposition wanted the House to take up, the government suggested that they could bring up them in a different format if the Speaker permitted. It was also decided that the House would have evening sittings on December 23 and another day.
Mr. Jyothula Nehru said their demand for holding the session for 15 days was brushed aside by the government.
