Assembly session sans fireworks

March 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:54 am IST - Hyderabad:

No interruptions, no sloganeering and no storming of the well. The Assembly did not witness any fireworks on Monday. With the YSR Congress boycotting the session in protest against suspension of its eight members, it was a smooth affair all the way. In contrast to the uproarious scenes witnessed during the last few days, the proceedings were conducted without a hitch.

The Opposition benches were totally empty which prompted BJP MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju to comment thus: “I am the only Opposition member today and I want the Minister to reply”, while raising a question on filling of vacant posts in government hospitals. Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao allowed the ruling party members to speak at length and ask supplementary questions. So many members raised queries that Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said it was turning out to be a short discussion.

Members shower praise on Naidu

Jayanageswar Reddy, G. Suryarao,Y. Srinivasa Rao and Vishnukumar Raju heaped praise on the Chief Minister for his decision on debt waiver and inter-linking of rivers.
