Assembly mourns Peshawar students

The massacre of the 148 schoolchildren by Taliban in Peshawar had an echo in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Thursday. Members cutting across party lines expressed anguish at the untimely death of the innocent children and condemned the heinous crime in strongest terms.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu moved a condolence motion expressing shock and grief at the barbaric act and placed on record the deep sense of sorrow of people of Andhra Pradesh. He recalled the tragic event in which children were lined up and shot mercilessly in an 8 hour operation.

Expressing sympathy with the families of the bereaved children, Mr. Naidu said the world had become a global village today and one felt the pain wherever such incidents took place. He called for promoting an atmosphere of peace and harmony and putting down terrorism with iron hand.

Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy spoke touchingly about the tragic event and wanted everyone to condemn such acts of terror. Butchaiah Chowdhary (TDP), G. Srikant Reddy and Chand Pasha (YSRC) also spoke.
