The Fifth Additional District and Sessions Judge, Y. Aravinda Reddy, on Thursday granted bail to Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MP Asaduddin Owaisi in the seven-year-old case pertaining to assault on the then District Collector A.K. Singhal.

A non-bailable warrant pending against the MP was executed recently, following which he surrendered in Court. For the past four days, he had been lodged in the District Jail at Kandi near here.

A practicing advocate and Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader M. Raghunandana Rao had on Wednesday moved the District Principal and Sessions Court seeking bail for the MP. The petition was transferred to the Fifth Additional District and Sessions Judge and after hearing it on Thursday, the bail was granted.

Mr. Owaisi will be released from prison after the orders are communicated officially.
