MIM MP Owaisi meets YSRCP chief Y S Jagmohan Reddy in jail and seeks his support for Pranab in presidential poll
Majlis-Ittehadul-Muslimeen MP Assaduddin Owaisi met YSR Congress Party president Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy in Chanchalguda jail and sought his support for Pranab Mukherjee in the Presidential elections. Mr. Owaisi was closeted with the Kadapa MP for nearly 30 minutes.
Emerging after his meeting, Mr. Owaisi, told reporters that he had met Mr. Jagan and sought his support for Mr. Mukherjee. “I told him not to align with the NDA because they have communal ideology. He told me that he will keep this in mind before taking a decision on the presidential poll,” he said.
It is understood that the two leaders also discussed the outcome of the by-elections and the landslide victory of YSR Congress Party candidates in 15 Assembly constituencies. It is believed that Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy told Mr. Owaisi that his party had set its eyes on 2014 general elections
Replying to a query, Mr. Owaisi said: The mandate of the people for the present Assembly in the State was till 2014 and so we hope that it will continue till 2014. But, if any extraneous things happen I should not be blamed for that.
