State Gallery of Art and Yogi Vemana University to organise group art exhibitions in Tirupati and Hyderabad.

State Gallery of Art and Yogi Vemana University will organise group art exhibitions at Tirupati and Hyderabad soon, besides allotting permanent space for setting up an art gallery in Kadapa, Director of State Gallery of Art, Hyderabad, E. Siva Nagi Reddy said on Thursday.

Speaking as chief guest in the valedictory function of “Golden Threshold”, a drawing, painting and prints exhibition at Haritha tourism hotel here, he said Kadapa region has a rich legacy of arts and culture which needs to be preserved and maintained for future generations. He exhorted students of the YVU Department of Fine Arts to excel in new and modern techniques of painting and sculpture in order to get recognition for their works.

Vice-Chancellor of Yogi Vemana University Bethanabhatla Syamasundar, who presided over, advised fine arts enthusiasts to take up innovative marketing of art in today’s world. Artists should explore various fora to exhibit their works and gain popularity. The art work and the profile of every fine arts student would be incorporated in the university website to propagate them, the V-C said.

Coordinator of the Department of Fine Arts and curator of the exhibition K. Mrityunjaya Rao thanked the Special Chief Secretary for Tourism and Culture Chandana Khan for giving unstinted support and cooperation for arranging the exhibition. The exhibition was a huge success and many art enthusiasts from all over the district visited it, he said. A permanent art gallery at Kadapa town would help in exhibiting works of local artists and regional artists.

Students of Bachelor of Fine Arts U. Sreeramulu, C.H. Venkatesh, B. Venkateswarulu and B. Lavanya and their juniors spoke about their future plans. A.P.
