Protesters pledge support to Telangana movement
The Telangana Auto Drivers Union (TADU) has called for a one-day autorickshaw bandh on August 1 demanding that the Centre table the separate Telangana Bill in Parliament forthwith.
Hundreds of auto drivers took out an auto rally which they said would continue for the next two days here at Kazipet town on Friday. The drivers pledged support to the ongoing Telangana movement and are actively involved in it.
The rally was flagged off by TRS MLA D. Vinay Bhaskar. They will take out similar rallies in Hanamkonda and Warangal towns on Saturday and Sunday.
Addressing the auto drivers, TADU honorary president Gudimalla Ravi Kumar said that despite repeated requests, the district administration had failed to solve the problems facing the auto-drivers in the district headquarters. There was no proper parking place for them nor were they covered by any welfare schemes of government.
“Every day is a nightmare for the auto-driver. The RTA, APSRTC or traffic police intercept and impose heavy fine leaving the auto-drivers in a lurch. We believe that only a separate Telangana State will solve our problems and hence we support the cause.”
Mr Ravi Kumar called upon the people to strengthen another phase of the Telangana movement which will begin soon.
