The four policemen from Visakhapatnam city police commissionerate, who were arrested in Jodhpur on November 6, by the Anti Corruption Bureau of Rajasthan are yet to get a bail, even after over two weeks.

The bail application was rejected by the lower court and the legal team from Vizag Police had applied for the bail in the High Court, which is yet to come for hearing. The hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, but it was not listed and it is likely to be included sometime in the early next week, said Police Commissioner T. Yoganand.

It may be remembered that the four-member team had gone to Jodhpur in Rajasthan to arrest and recover the gold in connection with a dacoity case that took place under PM Palem Police Station limits in the city a couple of months ago.

They were arrested by the ACB of Rajasthan for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from the accused persons in the case for not arresting and removing their names from the case.

The police officers who were arrested were Inspector of Crime Wing (North Division) R.V.R.K. Choudhari, Sub-Inspectors Sk Sharif (Parawada Police Station) and Gopal Rao (MR Peta Police Station) and constable of One-Town police station S Hari Prasad. Since their arrest, the Visakhapatnam City Police have been trying to bail them out. To ascertain the veracity of the allegations and to secure an early bail for the policemen, a four-member team from Visakhapatnam police commissionerate led by DCP (Crimes) Shemushi Bajpai had also gone to Rajasthan.
