Arrangements in place for municipal elections

Five companies of central paramilitary forces along with 3,000 police personnel will be deployed for the smooth conduct of the municipal elections in Karimnagar district on Sunday.

Disclosing this to newsmen here on Friday, Superintendent of Police V. Shiva Kumar said that the municipal elections would be held in 11 towns including Karimnagar and Ramagundam. A total of 7.10 lakh voters would exercise their franchise in 326 municipal wards and divisions in the district.

Elections would be held in 725 polling stations including 339 normal polling stations. Among them, 303 polling stations have been identified as sensitive and 83 as hypersensitive. He said that they had opened 21check posts and constituted 40 flying squads and 43 static surveillance teams to ensure the peaceful conduct of elections.

In order to protect the police personnel deployed for polling duties from the sweltering heat, he said that they had made arrangements for adequate supply of drinking water, ORS sachets, ambulance along with a doctor at all polling stations.

Trinethram (third eye)

The Karimnagar district police added another feather in its cap by using IT to launch the “Trinethram (third eye) through android application and Google app. Anyone can send pictures of model code violation, public consumption of liquor, eve teasers and other issues through this app so that it reaches the police server.

The SP also asked people to lodge their complaints if any, through www.karimnagarpolice.in or dial 7794805550 or 100. He said that they had recovered Rs 2.19 crore from various check posts in the district and another 6.225 kg of unaccounted gold. Additional SP (Administration) B. Janardhan Reddy, OSD L. Subbarayudu and others were present.
