In a major breakthrough, Kataram police have unearthed a huge arms and ammunition dump belonging to Maoists in the forests of Narsingapur village of Adavi Mutharam mandal in Karimnagar district on Tuesday evening.

Disclosing this to newsmen here on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police V. Ravinder said that on receiving credible information about the arms dump belonging to Maoists in the jungles, Kataram CI Ramulu along with his team and district guards personnel conducted combing operations on Tuesday evening. During their search operations between Narsingapur and Rekulagudem villages, the police noticed a red coloured bag concealed in a cave in the mountain.

When the police opened the bag, they recovered a .303 rifle, a Sten gun, a revolver, a tapancha and ammunition belonging to the .303 rifle, 8 mm rifle and revolver.

Incidentally, the .303 and Sten gun belong to the Police Department and the police suspect that the Maoists might have stolen the weapons after attacking the police stations during one of their raids.
