AP will get its due share of development: Prabhu

Union Minister visits railway station and port in Nellore district

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu took part in various developmental programmes at the railway station in Nellore city and also at the Krishnapatnam port near here on Sunday.

Mr. Prabhu laid the foundation stone for a long-awaited foot overbridge at the Nellore South railway station and also for the Yard Remodelling works and a new platform at the Gudur railway station.

From here itself, he inaugurated the speedy wifi network installed at the Tirupati railway station.

Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, MPs Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy (Nellore) and Velagapalli Varaprasad (Tirupati), District Collector M. Janaki, Mayor Abdul Aziz and others were present.

Mr. Suresh Prabhu said everything would be done to ensure that the newly created Andhra Pradesh would get its due share of development.“Railways have been on the path of greater development and more projects would be given to AP in time to come,” he added.

The Minister proceeded to the Krishnapatnam port where he took part in the inauguration of a container facility as part of the development of the Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP).

The Container Corporation of India (Concor) and the AP government had reached a memorandum of understanding for establishing the MMLP at Krishnapatnam for which 140.58 acres had already been acquired.

Mr. Prabhu said the developmental projects would be implemented to enable the eastern coastal region to achieve its full potential in the next few years.

He said necessary railway projects would be given a push to make sure that higher speed railway logistics transport would be enabled from the Krishnapatnam area to the other parts of the country.

Mr. Venkaiah Naidu said the Krishnapatnam port taken up with private partnership had seen a steady development over the years and similar growth would be possible with more such partnerships and commitment.

The CVR Links, an 18-hole golf course, was also inaugurated near the port area.
