Veterinarians hailing from Andhra Pradesh will help in reducing the stray dog population and also control dog bites in Hyderabad as they will be participating in a programme to sterilise and vaccinate 2,300 stray dogs in Hyderabad within the next four months.

The operations will be part of the practical training programme to the 112 A.P. veterinarians at the Blue Cross facility in Jubilee Hills in association with the Humane Society International (HSI). The programme was launched here on Monday and the veterinarians will be trained in seven batches with each undergoing a 14-day practical training for spay/neuter surgery of dogs.

HSI will be providing experienced veterinarians as trainers, surgery equipment and a dog catching vehicle. Along with training, knowledge about best practices in pre and post-op care for dogs will also be given.
