A notification has been issued to fill 20,000 vacancies of school teachers by this month-end, according to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Announcing this here on Sunday after inaugurating A.P. Social Welfare Residential School constructed at a cost of Rs. 9.65 lakh at P. Venkatapuram village on the city outskirts, Mr. Reddy said that there was no compromise with regard to promoting education . He said that the State government allocated Rs. 27,000 crore for education in the budget for the current fiscal.
‘Rich human resources’
“Our country and our State are rich in human resources and we have to make use of it by providing qualitative education to the children. The government, on its part, is providing everything right from infrastructure and facilities to qualitative teaching staff, scholarship and fee reimbursement to students to encourage education,” he said, urging the parents to send their children to schools without fail.
Referring to his pet programme ‘Bangaru Talli,’ Mr. Reddy said that the objective of the scheme was to ensure education and better treatment to girls and it would immediately benefit 2.25 crore families in the State.
“We are also focusing on the development of the SCs and STs and for their benefit we are implementing the SC/ST sub-plan,” he said.
To a proposal by Amalapuram MP G.V. Harsha Kumar seeking setting up of Petro University in Kakinada, Mr. Reddy sought cooperation from Union Minister for Human Resources Development M.M. Pallam Raju, who was also present, to establish the institution.
Stone laid
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of a drinking water project worth Rs. 20 crore at Panduru village, for another drinking water project estimated to cost about Rs. 186.36 crore at Sasikanth Nagar.
He also laid the foundation stone for the construction of three welfare hostel buildings before leaving for Ramachandrapuram.
Ministers K. Parthasarathy, P. Satyanarayana, P. Viswaroop, N. Raghuveera Reddy and Tota Narasimham, MLAs, MLCs and officials were present.
