As the UPA-II government has no other option but to announce its decision on the demand for a separate Telangana State well before the coming Assembly/Lok Sabha polls in Andhra Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh Governor, E.S.L. Narasimhan, is camping here and holding a series of discussions with the Centre on the vexatious issue.

The former chief of the Intelligence Bureau, who is reported to have been expressing his reservation on bifurcating Andhra Pradesh, met among others, President Pranab Mukherjee, who once headed a committee to look into the Telangana demand, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and key Union Ministers — A.K. Antony, P. Chidambaram and Sushilkumar Shinde.

Sources said he briefed them about the goings-on in the State and the recent the “Chalo Assembly” programme organised by Telangana protagonists with the support of the TRS, the BJP and the CPI.

The Governor is expected to continue his parleys on Wednesday too with the decision-makers in the national capital. Meanwhile, Mr. Shinde told journalists that discussions on Telangana issue were going on at the highest level and he got the feedback on the happenings in Andhra Pradesh from the Governor.
