BJP Andhra Pradesh unit on Monday condemned the state government’s action arresting former Chief Minister and TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, who is on a hunger strike demanding compensation for farmers who suffered enormous loss due to various natural calamities this year.

Mr. Naidu, was forcibly taken into custody by police and shifted to NIMS hospital here in the wee hours today.

In a statement here, the state BJP Chief G. Kishan Reddy condemned “forcible” arrest of former Chief Minister and alleged that the state Congress government instead of coming forward with a viable package to rescue the farmers in distress, was resorting to intimating tactics.

Stating that Kiran Kumar Reddy government is squarely responsible for the present situation, the BJP leader demanded it to announce a more viable package to extend assistance to the affected farmers as relief package announced by it was inadequate.
