Unlike Thursday when they were suspended for obstructing the proceedings of the Assembly and later arrested by police for staging a sit-in at the entrance, the YSR Congress MLAs on Friday took part in the debate of the House on Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill for a brief while, but staged a walkout protesting that their concerns on the legislation were being overlooked.
YSR Congress floor leader Y.S. Vijayamma said the party was staging a walkout as there was no assurance on voting or on the issues raised by it. The party wanted the Assembly to adopt a resolution on integrated State, but it was not conceded.
She recalled that All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Digvijay Singh ruled out voting which fuelled apprehensions of YSRC and the people of Seemandhra that it might not be held at all.
Ms. Vijayamma and all the other party MLAs handed over amendments opposing all the clauses in the Bill to the Legislature Secretary and walked out.
