AP Bar Council demands land allotment for new High Court complex

The Bar Council of the State of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday requested the state government to allot 100 acres of land for construction of new building for High Court complex which had caught fire recently.

The meeting of the Bar Council, which held here on Wednesday, also requested the government to allot five acres of land for the office of the Bar Council and sanction funds immediately for construction of High Court building as well as the Bar council office, Bar Council Chairman A Narasimha Reddy said.

The Bar council also asked the government to take immediate steps for alternative and suitable arrangements for functioning of the High Court.

A fire broke out in the High Court building on August 31 and gutted eight judge chambers besides damaging a library and a conference hall.
