The Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday appealed to K Chandrasekhar Rao to end his fast-unto-death in view of his deteriorating health as the TRS Chief’s hunger strike on the burning issue of Telangana entered eleventh day.
“He is very weak and should resume oral feeds immediately failing which his general condition would deteriorate further which has been communicated by the team of doctors to Mr. Rao and his family members,” a health bulletin issued by the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), where he is admitted, said.
“He is showing signs of protein malnutrition in the form of decreased protein in blood and is becoming weaker,” it said.
Mr. Rao has, however, refused intravenous antibiotic and fluids. He also refused to let his blood samples sent for laboratory tests in the morning, the bulletin said.
Expressing concern over TRS chief’s worsening health and the need to maintain law and order, Assembly Speaker N Kirankumar Reddy, Chief Minister K Rosaiah and Opposition Leader Chandrababu Naidu appealed to him to call off his fast.
“We are all concerned about his (Chandrasekhar Rao) health. His services are required for the state. I spoke to him earlier. On behalf of everyone, I am making appeal to him again to call off the fast,” the Speaker said.
