ANU to offer course in rooftop solar installer

Acharya Nagarjuna University is offering a certification programme for rooftop solar photovoltaic installer from the academic year 2015-2016, Vice-Chancellor K. Viyyanna Rao has said.

The certification programme is being offered in collaboration with Gujarat Energy Research & Management Institute (GERMI). Dr. Rao inked the MoU with Director of GERMI,T. Harinarayana at Vibrant Gujarat-2015, a Global Business Meet held at Gandhinagar, Gujarat recently.

Dr. Rao said that the programme would help skilled manpower to set up and maintain Rooftop Solar Systems.

The programme is being designed to develop high quality rooftop solar PV systems.

“We hope that the programme is being introduced at a right time when awareness on solar photovoltaic roof systems is increasing. We are sure that the programme would surely create jobs and promote entrepreneurship among students,” Dr. Rao said.

A two-member team from the GERMI would visit the ANU shortly to develop the training module, standardise laboratory set up, technical content, hands on training equipment and methods of training and coordination with the Ministry of New and Renewal Sources of Energy.

The university would provide class rooms, laboratories and extend all training facilities.
