A.P. Govt. to refurbish 104 services from April 1


The State Government has decided to refurbish the 104 vehicles, ambulance services for rural areas under Fixed Day Health Services, renaming it as NTR Sanchara Vaidyam.

The new service, expected to be operational on April 1, will be equipped with diagnostic kits, medicines as well as a medical officer to attend emergencies. The Government has invited national tenders for selecting operators who will be entrusted with operation and maintenance of the new services, Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas told the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.

Replying to a query during the Question Hour, he said that the Government had decided to strengthen the service by deputing medical officer and staff nurse, increasing the number of laboratory diagnostic tests and taking up a campaign on health awareness in the rural areas. The vehicles would be fitted with GPS devices so as to enable the department to track their movement from time to time.

To another question, he refuted the claims that private hospitals had decided to stop the Arogya Sri services due to non-payment of the amounts due to them. There were 1.39 crore white ration card holders in the State who were availing the services offered through 104.
