The Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to sanction ₹2,500 as pension a month for kidney patients will come as a major relief for more than 15,000 victims in Srikakulam district.

Many patients in Uddanam region hailed the government’s initiative and sought more benefits such as free transport facility and supply of safe drinking water in all the villages of Ichapuram, Sompeta, Kaviti, Kanchili, Palasa, Mandasa and Vajrapukotturu mandals.

The district administration plans to collect details of the victims for the sanctioning of the pension.

YSR Congress Party-North Andhra women wing head Varudu Kalyani asked the government to enhance the pension since ₹2,500 was not enough for medicines.
